The Ear (3) is the third generation of the main true wireless earbud line from Nothing, the London-based consumer electronics company. It went on sale on October 25, 2025, priced at USD 149 to 179 depending on market, EUR 150 in Europe and GBP 144 in the UK. The charging case uses a recycled aluminium base combined with a see-through plastic body.
Key specs that matter
A 12 mm dynamic driver with a PMI and TPU membrane drives each earpiece, with a 32 ohm impedance and a stated response from 20 Hz to 40 kHz. Adaptive noise cancelling reaches up to 45 dB and re-evaluates the surroundings every 600 milliseconds. With cancelling off, the buds run up to 10 hours per charge and up to 38 hours in combination with the case, while the total with cancelling on drops to 22 hours. Each bud has a 55 mAh cell and the case holds 500 mAh. A single earpiece weighs 5.2 g and the case about 61 g.
Engineering and use context
Bluetooth 5.4 supports SBC and AAC, plus LDAC reaching 24-bit and 96 kHz, and multipoint connection keeps two devices linked. Setup is quicker through Google Fast Pair and the Windows equivalent, Swift Pair, and a low-latency mode serves gaming. Spatial audio is offered without head tracking. Every earbud uses three directional MEMS microphones plus a bone-conduction voice sensor. The Super Mic function goes further, putting two microphones in the case itself, activated by a Talk button on the case, and isolating the voice in surroundings as loud as 95 dB. Wired charging of the case takes about 70 minutes, and 2.5 W wireless charging about 120 minutes. The Nothing X app gives an 8-band equaliser with adjustable frequency and Q per band, lets owners share EQ profiles, and on Nothing OS 3.5 phones offers automatic transcription. Pinch gestures in single, double, triple and hold versions can be reassigned, and IP54 protection covers dust and splashes. Silicone ear tips in multiple sizes are packed with the buds. For a quick top-up, the case can be charged either by USB-C cable or on a wireless pad.
Pairing
Being self-powered, the Ear (3) needs no external amplifier or converter and links without cables to a phone, tablet or computer. Android devices that output LDAC can use its high-resolution mode, while Apple devices connect through AAC.
Alternatives
The Nothing Ear (a) costs less and relies on 11 mm drivers, the same maximum noise cancelling depth and up to 42.5 hours of playback with its case.
